You’re in for a special treat today because chef shop-owner Heather is sharing her famous Jamaican-style beef and veggie patties and we’re pairing them up with a juicy sun-ripened Cali red blend and an easy drinking white wine for today’s tasting! Inspired by The New York Times Food article, “The Jamaican Beef Patty Extends it’s Reach” and it’s inevitable (and rather enjoyable) backlash, Heather searched out Flatbush and Caton Avenues to find real scotch bonnets, callalou and hard dough bread to make this deliciousness for you from scratch! As the granddaughter of four Jamaican immigrants (St. Elizabeth, to be specific) she’s loved this culturally-rooted comfort food her entire life — and today / tonight/ Sunday, she’s sharing this delicacy with you, one forged in family tradition plus her own expertise.
